In the main Karlsplatz building, there are the representative rooms of the Kuppel-, Fest-, Boeckl- and Prechtlsaal, as well as numerous lecture halls and seminar rooms of varying sizes. On the ground floor is the long drawn, continuous domed Prechtlsaal. In the Fest- und Boecklsaal on the first floor, the Vienna University of Technology holds academic honors and awards as well as other various events.
The upper end of the medium-scale is the domed hall. A wooden dome construction built in 1870 from so-called “De L’Orm’s Archbows” with open-kept monumental beams. After the renovation in 2009, the large domed hall was created for numerous high-caliber events, in addition to which a rare example of wood engineering is to be seen.
